What's New with Dr. W?

dr-seymour-weaver.jpgWell, after reading some information on how yoga can improve one's quality of life, I decided to add this activity to my lifestyle.

This past month, I got started and the YOGA that I chose to try is called HOT YOGA.  This is because it takes place in a room with the temperature at 104 to 105 degrees with about 45% humidity.

Well, so far I have made it through my first 10 classes and I have managed to avoid stretching anything out of place while twisting and bending to get my body into positions it has never been in before.

I must say that the most enjoyable parts of the class is when we go to the floor exercises and the end when the instructor says, "Namaste"!

Wish me luck!

I will keep you up to date with my progress.

Healthy 365 Tip of The Week - Itchy Scalp Relief

What to do about an itchy scalp condition...

Amazingly, on occasion I will see an individual who comes in as a patient who has endured years and years of itching and scalp irritation.

This does not have to be!!!

Except in younger children, itchy scalp problems are usually due to seborrheic dermatitis or other variants of eczema that can affect the scalp.  There may or may not be flaking present along with the itching.

Topical anti-inflammatory medications ranging from over the counter to prescription versions of cortisone products can usually stop the itching within a week or two.  In more stubborn or severe cases, localized injections of the same types of medication can provide relief or improvement within a few weeks as well.

So, if you have been experiencing an itchy scalp problem for a while and nothing has helped, schedule an appointment right away or let me know if you have any interest in an online consultation and we can explore using this as a way to get you the medication that you need.
